    According to sources, this is a prairie style barn (wide, four-pitched roof) gambrel style barn. The gambrel is the thing that sticks out of the roof at one end, like a pointed extension. The extra sloped roofs on either side gave more room for hay, grain, etc.

    I’m doing my homework! And Jan, you are right — it’s definitely a classic.
